Shawn E. Leavitt

 

Shawn Leavitt is the SVP of Global Benefits for Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal ("Comcast") — one of the world’s largest media + technology companies. In this role, Shawn and his team are responsible for delivering programs that support the company’s 126,000 employees. Specifically, Shawn has been tasked with guiding Comcast through its next level of integration across the organization and its three large classes of programs — Retirement, Health & Welfare, and Health Services. This includes responsibility for benefits compliance, communication and finance.

Over his 20+-year career, Shawn has developed a reputation in the industry for implementing creative, comprehensive compensation and benefit strategies, managing rewards in complex global settings and developing effective employee wellness campaigns.

Previously, Shawn was the Vice President of Global Compensation and Benefits at Carlson responsible for establishing and executing Carlson’s total rewards strategy in support of 170,000 employees worldwide. While at Carlson Shawn implemented an innovative, integrated health and wellness program; re-engineered the total rewards department to drive greater autonomy and accountability amongst program managers; and laid the foundation to standardize the company’s disparate global pay and benefits programs.

Shawn’s other positions include:

  • Vice President of Benefits at Safeway Inc. — where he developed and implemented several new programs aimed at creating an engaged health care consumer, including a revolutionary reference-based pricing program for “commodity” health care services.
  • Director, Operations for Global Compensation and Benefits at The Coca-Cola Company—where he worked extensively in Global Mergers and Acquisitions in China and the Philippines
  • Director of Benefits with Knight-Ridder — where he pioneered the "Health Advocate" model that has been adopted by the industry as a core function of any effective care management strategy.

Throughout his career Shawn has also developed effective employee total rewards and wellness campaigns and championed the development of leading-edge and award-winning portal solutions.
